Highly Uniform Polymer Brush Coatings
The modification of surfaces with polymer brushes has become an important tool for research applications (Macromolecules 2017, 50, 4089−4113; Chem. Rev. 2017, 117, 1105−1318). Polymer brushes are created by a surface initiated living radical polymerization, where the polymer chains grow from surface anchored initiator molecules. This results in a high density polymer coating, where the polymer chains are forced to adopt a stretched conformation – also known as polymer brushes. RadiSurf Scientific offers a range of uniform, high quality polymer brush coatings on stainless steel. RadiBrush polymer coatings are linked to the stainless steel surface through covalent bonds, and possess lifetime of at least 6 months and excellent stability in aqueous and organic solvents. The nature of the surface is completely changed with polymer brushes of just a few nanometers, and therefore polymer brushes are ideal coatings to e.g. control lubrication and wetting properties (Macromolecules 2017, 50, 2932–2941), prevent nonspecific binding of biomolecules and resist fouling (Polymer Journal 2016, 48, 325–331), or control transport of ions or molecules (ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces 2013, 5, 1400−1407).
The portfolio of RadiBrush surface coatings is rapidly expanding, but RadiSurf Scientific also offers customized polymer brushes on stainless steel or other materials of interest. Please contact us to get a quote.
